A Good Working Relationship with a Virtual Assistant... Why?
Well, let's be honest, you're putting your trust in us to assist you with some of your business' really important tasks. As a business owner, there's A LOT to do and we'll be helping to take a little bit of stress off you. From our perspective, we want to help you achieve and ensure that our role only benefits, improves and builds your business. But, we know that's not always easy when you've been working as a solopreneur.
Communication is key, so here are some tips to help you to build a good working relationship with your Virtual Assistant:
1. Share your vision
Working with a Virtual Assistant means they're a part of your team and we want to help your business grow and succeed. Share with your VA your goals, projections and plans. It gives them a better understanding of how their work helps to build on your vision whilst also keeping your VA motivated and inspired to think big with you.
2. Speak regularly
We have set up our ways of working so that you can have consistent communication with your Virtual Assistant. Creating regular calls/video calls to talk over tasks already completed, progress made and any concerns you might have. Moreover, regular emails and WhatsApp's are also a great way to remain in contact with each other, frequently, whilst on-the-go.
3. Be open and honest
Trust is essential on both ends and respecting this is really important. Having a working relationship where you can be open allows work to be more effective. So, if things are going well, share them! However, by the same token, if you're not happy with something or changed your mind on something, this also needs to be shared with your VA. It's important that you feel comfortable to share the positive and negatives with us, as it helps us to learn and provide an even better service. We're always willing to learn and develop.
4. Let them know how you prefer to communicate
Leading on from the above, you're going to have a preference on how you communicate. Do you prefer WhatsApp over email or voice call over video call? Do you prefer to speak in the mornings or just after lunch? Would you like a regular email summary? Let your Virtual Assistant know your preferences so they can cater to your needs, as well as foster healthy communication. You might not have considered before what works best for you, and it's ok to make changes as you go through but thinking about how best you want to communicate will make the working relationship with your virtual assistant much better.
5. Show your appreciation
As with any role, if you're celebrated and feel valued, you'll likely work harder and feel happier. Do the same with your Virtual Assistant. Celebrate those wins! Let them know they've done a fantastic job! They'll feel even more motivated and it just adds to that lovely working relationship you have.
